Introduction

Make dinner part of the stay.
Garden barbecues, sukiyaki
and seasonal hot pots.

The large dining table is at the heart of Ueda: a place for family and friends to gather after a day in the countryside. Meal plans include Satoyama Jujo hot pots, shabu-shabu—thinly sliced meat cooked in broth—and sukiyaki, a sweet-savoury Japanese hot pot. From spring to autumn, outside the snowy season, you can also enjoy a barbecue in the garden.
Local hosts prepare ingredients and help set up the meal. You then cook and serve it yourselves, leaving time to talk and enjoy the house together. Our concierge can help in English and Japanese with choosing meal plans and making arrangements before your visit.
Options depend on your booking plan and must be arranged in advance. The barbecue garden closes during the snowy winter season; a separate garden-use fee applies if you bring your own ingredients. For dinner at Sanaburi, the restaurant at the main Satoyama Jujo hotel, choose a plan that expressly includes the restaurant dinner and return transfers. Check availability for your dates and arrange both in advance.
The garden barbecue area has no roof. If it rains, you will eat in the indoor dining room. Barbecues are unavailable in winter. A spacious living room, kitchen and dining room give your group room to enjoy time indoors.

Vegetarian meals can be arranged. Please tell us your dietary requirements in advance. We accommodate food allergies wherever possible, depending on the ingredients and the nature and severity of the allergy. We cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens or cross-contact. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before booking and reconfirm ingredients and preparation with our team before eating.

Kitchen

Cook together in an open kitchen.
Gather around a table for eight.

The open kitchen includes an induction cooktop, fridge, microwave, basic cookware and tableware. At its centre is a generous dining table for eight. The polished tabletop incorporates crushed wine bottles collected from our restaurants, giving used glass a new life as a distinctive piece of furniture.

If you plan to cook, shop before arrival. The Minamiuonuma Yukiakari roadside market is about 15 minutes away by car and sells local produce.
Please bring cooking oil and seasonings, which are not supplied. A selection of drinks and snacks is available in the house; check the in-house menu for complimentary items and prices.
