Old timber, treasured antiques
and a table made for gathering.
A historic home to enjoy together.
Old timber and earthen walls.
Crafts carried here by historic trade routes.
Beauty woven into daily life.
Shushi architects restored Ueda’s timber and earthen walls while adding external insulation for modern comfort. A generous dining table forms the centre of the house. Its polished surface incorporates crushed wine bottles collected from our restaurants, giving used glass a lasting new purpose.
Elsewhere, old Imari porcelain, lacquerware from Noto and wooden chests from Sado recall the region’s trading history. These crafts are part of the living spaces, ready to be appreciated during your stay.
The balance of antiques, reclaimed materials and modern design lets you experience a traditional Japanese home with the comfort and ease of Satoyama Jujo.
