A few things to know before you book

Comfort through the seasons

Insulation, upgraded windows and modern heating and cooling help make the houses comfortable in summer and winter. Much of this restoration is hidden, but it makes time around the table and a restful night possible beneath the historic beams.

Front desk & arrival

Our front desk is available from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, Japan time. Our concierge can help in English and Japanese. The houses do not have a staffed reception on site; arrival instructions are provided in advance.

Housekeeping & travelling with children

Housekeeping and towel changes are provided during multi-night stays. Cots, cribs and dedicated bedding for babies or infants are not provided. Please discuss your family’s sleeping arrangements with us before booking.

Vegetarian meals & food allergies

Vegetarian meals can be arranged. Please tell us your dietary requirements in advance. We accommodate food allergies wherever possible, depending on the ingredients and the nature and severity of the allergy. We cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens or cross-contact. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before booking and reconfirm ingredients and preparation with our team before eating.

Beds & Japanese futons

Bed widths: semi-double beds 120 cm (approximately 47 in); single beds 100 cm (approximately 39 in); Japanese futon mattresses 90–100 cm (approximately 35–39 in). Futons are Japanese-style mattresses laid on tatami flooring or a raised tatami platform, as shown in each house’s layout.

Meals & the service you can expect

Meal inclusions depend on the selected plan. For hot pots and barbecues, local hosts prepare the ingredients and help set up; you finish cooking and serve yourselves. Book meal arrangements ahead of arrival. Seasonal and weather restrictions apply to barbecues. See each house’s dining page for its options.

Station transfers & the private driver

Station transfers and sightseeing with a private driver are separate services. Arrange them in advance and check the days, hours and inclusions of your selected plan. Kura 01 and Kura 02 do not include these services.

Rates, payment & cancellation

Enter the full number of adults and children, your dates and the number of nights before comparing rates. One house is reserved for your group even when the booking site uses “room”. Check whether a displayed amount is per person or the total for your group and stay. Before confirming, review the final total in Japanese yen, meal and transfer inclusions, any additional charges, payment timing and the selected plan’s cancellation terms. These vary by plan.

How to book your stay

All seven houses can be booked through our official English-language reservation site. Choose a house above to continue. This page helps you plan your stay; your reservation is completed on the booking site.

  1. 1. Choose your dates and party

Enter your check-in date, number of nights and the full number of adults and children. Choose the correct age category for each child. One “room” means one private house, not one bedroom. If the full party cannot be selected, contact us before booking rather than leaving anyone out.

  2. 2. Choose the right meal plan

Half board means dinner and breakfast; a breakfast plan does not include dinner. Open the full plan details to check where dinner is served, whether it is self-service after setup, and which transfers are included. Choose the plan that matches how you want to spend your time.

  3. 3. Read availability and the price basis

Availability symbols: ○ means available, △ means limited availability and × means unavailable. Check whether a calendar rate is per person or for the whole house. Enter your complete party and dates, then review the final total for every guest and every night in Japanese yen.

  4. 4. Review, pay and keep the confirmation

Before confirming, check your dates, house, guest numbers, meals, transfers, final price, payment timing and cancellation charges. Save the confirmation email and reservation number. A reservation is complete only when the booking site confirms it.

  5. 5. Change or cancel an existing reservation

Use the reservation website and the details in your confirmation to view, change or cancel a booking. An enquiry-form message does not complete a new reservation, amendment or cancellation.
